Kickstands
Depending on the type and distribution of load you generally carry, a centre (double) or rear-mounted kickstand may be preferable to the standard centre-mounted side stand.
If the centre of gravity is positioned low and toward the rear – as is usually the case on a travel bike with loaded panniers – the bike can be braced most securely using a rear stand. If the centre of gravity is positioned more toward the front of the bike – as is the case with a loaded front basket – a centre stand is better. If the bike has a child seat then a centre stand should also be used because the bike must be braced in an upright position.
